The new city 30 km away: opening ceremony and indoor sports

Diamniadio, an urban hub about thirty kilometres east of Dakar, brings together four venues and the Youth Olympic Village.

Venues in Diamniadio

  • Abdoulaye Wade Stadium: opening ceremony on Saturday 31 October, archery. Free Fan Zone, booking required.
  • Dakar Arena: badminton, futsal (7–12 November).
  • Exhibition Centre: artistic gymnastics, fencing, judo, table tennis, taekwondo, wushu.
  • Equestrian Centre: show jumping.

Getting there: the TER links Dakar to Diamniadio in about 45 minutes, for 1,500 FCFA in 2nd class.
